Seattle Capoeira Center (“SCC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit our website, contact us, submit a form on Facebook or Instagram, book a class, or otherwise interact with Seattle Capoeira Center.
This section applies to Seattle Capoeira Center’s adult classes, website, advertising, and inquiry forms. Capoeira Life is a separate nonprofit youth and family program; its separately branded privacy notice appears below.
Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Contact information: your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address if you choose to provide it.
- Inquiry and scheduling information: the class or service you are interested in, when you would like to begin, your preferred class time, and information you include in messages to us.
- Registration and membership information: class bookings, attendance, membership status, transactions, and related customer-service records. Payment details may be processed directly by our payment or booking providers; SCC does not need to receive your complete payment-card number.
- Website and advertising information: IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring links, advertising identifiers, and actions taken on our website or advertisements.
- Communications: emails, messages, calls, and other communications you send to us or receive from us.
Please do not submit Social Security numbers, financial account details, medical records, or other highly sensitive information through an advertising lead form or general contact form.
How We Collect Information
We collect information:
- directly from you when you contact us, submit a lead form, register, book a class, or become a member;
- from Meta products when you submit one of our Facebook or Instagram Instant Forms;
- from booking, membership, payment, email, and customer-management providers that help us serve you; and
- automatically through cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies used on our website and advertisements.
How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
- respond to questions and help you schedule a Free Trial Class;
- provide class, registration, membership, and customer-support services;
- send confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, and other service-related messages;
- follow up about SCC classes and programs that may interest you;
- measure advertising performance, understand how people use our website, and improve our services;
- maintain the safety, security, and integrity of our systems and records;
- prevent fraud or misuse; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights of others.
Providing your information is voluntary, but we may be unable to respond to your request or schedule a class without the contact information we need.
Facebook and Instagram Lead Forms
When you submit an SCC form on Facebook or Instagram, Meta may prefill information from your Meta account and process information under Meta’s own terms and privacy policy. Meta then makes the submitted information available to SCC.
We use information from these forms to respond to your inquiry, help schedule your Free Trial Class, and measure whether our advertising produces actual class attendance and enrollment. We may use an authorized integration or service provider to deliver the lead securely to SCC’s business inbox or customer-management system.
Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies, including the Meta Pixel, to understand site activity, attribute bookings to advertising, create or measure advertising audiences, and improve campaign performance. These technologies may collect device, browser, page-view, and advertising interaction information.
You can use your browser settings and the privacy controls offered by platforms such as Meta to limit some cookies or advertising uses. Blocking these technologies may affect website features or our ability to measure whether an advertisement led to a booking.
How We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information to:
- service providers that support our website, hosting, email, communications, booking, membership management, payment processing, analytics, advertising, and lead delivery;
- advertising and social-media platforms, such as Meta, when needed to run and measure our advertising;
- professional advisers, insurers, or authorities when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, or respond to a legal process; and
- a successor organization if SCC is involved in a merger, reorganization, sale, or transfer of its operations.
Examples of providers we may use include Meta, Google Workspace, Zapier, WellnessLiving, website-hosting providers, and payment processors. These providers may process information under their own privacy terms and our agreements with them.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not rent prospect lists. We do not disclose lead information to unrelated organizations for their own independent marketing.
Email, Calls, and Text Messages
If you ask us to contact you, we may use the email address or phone number you provide to respond about your inquiry, class scheduling, or membership. We will not use an advertising lead form as permission for automated marketing calls or texts unless we separately provide any notice and obtain any consent required by law.
You may ask us to stop nonessential emails, calls, or text messages at any time. Marketing emails will include an unsubscribe method when required. You may still receive necessary service messages related to an existing booking, class, or membership.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. We generally retain inactive prospect and inquiry records for no longer than 24 months after the last interaction, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or we need to retain them for a legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or active customer relationship purpose.
Booking, attendance, membership, and transaction records may be kept longer when reasonably necessary for business and legal requirements. We may retain de-identified or aggregated information that no longer identifies you.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. We limit access to people and providers that need the information for legitimate business purposes. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your Choices and Requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information. You may contact us to:
- ask what personal information we maintain about you;
- request correction or deletion of your information;
- withdraw a prior communication preference; or
- ask questions about our privacy practices.
We may need to verify your request before completing it. Some information may be retained when required or permitted by law.
Children’s Privacy
SCC’s adult-class lead forms are intended for adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through those forms. A parent or legal guardian should make any inquiry concerning a minor. If you believe a child submitted personal information without appropriate parental involvement, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Capoeira Life’s youth and family program has a separate, Capoeira Life-branded notice below. Its online inquiry and registration forms are intended to be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
Third-Party Services and Links
Our website and messages may link to services operated by other organizations. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and SCC is not responsible for third-party websites or services that we do not control.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices, services, or legal obligations change. We will post the updated policy on our website and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be communicated in another reasonable way.

Capoeira Life Privacy Notice for Parents and Guardians

Capoeira Life is a nonprofit cultural heritage and community arts initiative fiscally sponsored by Shunpike Arts Collective. This notice applies only to Capoeira Life’s youth and family programs. It does not cover Seattle Capoeira Center’s adult commercial programs.
Capoeira Life classes are held at Seattle Capoeira Center, 2909 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144. Seattle Capoeira Center may be identified as the class location, but Capoeira Life remains the program named on its advertising, forms, and communications.
Who Should Submit Information
Capoeira Life’s online inquiry and registration forms are intended for parents and legal guardians. A parent or guardian should contact and register for the program on a child’s behalf. Children should not submit personal information through these forms themselves.
Information We Collect
Depending on how a family contacts or registers with Capoeira Life, we may collect:
- Parent or guardian information: name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, relationship to the child, and communications with us.
- Participant and eligibility information: the child’s name, birthday or age, class interests, and information reasonably needed to determine program eligibility.
- Optional demographic and impact-reporting information: answers about gender, LGBTQ+ identity, race or ethnicity, immigrant or refugee status, low-income or free-and-reduced-lunch status, and disability status. These questions help Capoeira Life understand whom the program serves and report program impact to funders.
- Program records: registration status, selected classes, attendance, active-participation status, referral source, reasons for interest, and related communications.
- Safety and emergency information: emergency-contact name, relationship, phone number, and other information a parent or guardian chooses to provide for participant safety or accommodation.
- Website and advertising information: device and browser information, IP address, pages viewed, cookies or similar identifiers, referring links, and actions taken on our website or advertisements.
Registration may be handled through WellnessLiving, which may collect account credentials and other registration information under its own privacy policy and terms. If a parent or guardian submits a Capoeira Life form on Facebook or Instagram, Meta may prefill and process information under Meta’s own terms and privacy policy before making the submitted information available to Capoeira Life.
How We Use Information
We use information to answer family questions, determine eligibility, register participants, communicate class details and schedule changes, operate the requested program, maintain attendance and active-participation records, support participant safety, evaluate program reach and effectiveness, prepare administrative and grant reports, and meet reasonable fiscal-sponsorship, legal, accounting, safeguarding, and recordkeeping obligations.
Where reasonably possible, Capoeira Life uses aggregate or deidentified information for grant and public reporting. If identifiable information is required for a specific report, we will handle it only as permitted by law and any applicable notice or authorization.
How We Disclose Information
We limit access to people and organizations that reasonably need information for the purposes above. These may include authorized Capoeira Life staff and instructors; Shunpike Arts Collective for fiscal-sponsorship or administrative functions; Seattle Capoeira Center personnel when needed to host or deliver Capoeira Life classes; providers supporting forms, registration, email, storage, analytics, advertising, or program administration; funders or evaluators for appropriate program reporting; and authorities or professional advisers when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect participants or others.
We do not sell or rent parent, guardian, or child contact or profile information. We do not provide it to unrelated organizations for their own marketing, and we do not use Capoeira Life participant information to market Seattle Capoeira Center’s adult programs.
Photos, Video, and Audio
Permission to use an identifiable child’s image or voice publicly or for promotional purposes is requested through a separate parent or guardian media release. Media consent is separate from program registration. A parent or guardian may contact us to withdraw permission for future uses, although material already lawfully published or distributed may not always be retractable.
Email and Text Choices
We may send service messages about registration, reminders, account alerts, classes, or schedule changes. Promotional email or text choices are handled separately where required. A parent or guardian may ask us to stop nonessential communications at any time, while necessary program or account messages may continue.
Retention and Security
We retain identifiable information only as long as reasonably necessary for program operations, administration, grant or legal requirements, safety, and dispute resolution. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards and limit access to people and providers who need the information for an authorized purpose. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Parent and Guardian Requests
A parent or legal guardian may request access to or correction of their contact information or their child’s information, ask for deletion where applicable, withdraw an optional permission, or stop nonessential communications. We may take reasonable steps to verify the requester’s authority and may retain records when reasonably required for legal, safety, grant, fiscal, or administrative purposes.

Children’s Online Privacy
We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to submit personal information online directly. If we learn that a child submitted information without appropriate parent or guardian involvement, we will review the circumstances and take reasonable steps to delete the information or involve the parent or guardian, as appropriate.
Changes and Contact
We may update this notice as program practices or legal obligations change. We will post the revised notice and update the date above.
