Weekly Traditional Capoeira Roda
Welcome to the only weekly capoeira roda in the Pacific Northwest hosted by the Washington Capoeira Center. Watch and learn something new about a cultural art from Brazil. This program is free to the public and made possible by Seattle Parks & Rec, ArtsWA, City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, 4Culture, Shunpike, Capoeira Life (NPO), Empowering People in Communities (EPIC), and Capoeira Vida (NPO). Contact us for other free events provided by our NPO partners.
The capoeira roda (pronounced HO-da) is a circle formed by capoeira players and musical instruments, where every participant sings songs and claps their hands following the music. Two capoeira players enter the roda and play the game according to the style required by the musical rhythm.
Additionally, we have a free Capoeira roda & potluck each month: 2nd Fridays in Tacoma and 4th Sundays in Seattle. If you would like to contribute to the potluck, please no pork or nuts. Thank you! **For Seattle, please RSVP to info@capoeiralife.org for the kids pizza party headcount.
See our Calendar for details. If you have not yet, please sign our online waiver before participating.
In addition to our weekly capoeira rodas, we have capoeira roda events throughout the year celebrating special occasions in our community, showcasing capoeira masters from Brazil, demonstrating at local festivals, and more. Stay connected in our email list for event announcements.
